A Little About Us

My name is Mark Skellenger and welcome to Foxcross Photography.
      Living in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, being an outdoor enthusiast and photographer is a combination to good to be true. My brother once asked how I manage to be in the right place at the right time to get my photos. Well the answer is simple the opportunities are all around.
     Whether hiking in the Franconia Notch, paddling the Androscoggin River, exploring the back roads of Pittsburg or visiting the nature areas here in Bethlehem, there is always an opportunity right around the next bend in the trail.
     Like most of us I’ve always had a camera. Hundreds of photos from the old instamatics to the Polaroid instant developing cameras filled scrap books and shoe boxes. I moved to 35mm film cameras and spent a lot of time taking photos that were more a labor of love than quality. While achieving some very good quality photos it seemed I was spending more and more on developing pictures that were only additions to my scrapbooks.
    A few years ago when digital cameras came on the scene, digital photography seemed to be a natural transition since I already owned a computer. I started out with an old Agfa digital camera that I bought used for next to nothing. Today I have graduated to the very nice Nikon D300 with a couple of great lenses that can capture the often missed detail and beauty of the world around us.
     I always have my camera no matter where I go. Living and working in New Hampshire’s North Country always presents photo opportunities.
     In the last few years I have taken up the challenge of photographing weddings. What a joy it is to capture the memories of two people in love.  I can preserve the memories of that special day not only with photographs but with a slideshow set to your favorite music. 
     Scanning old photos and preserving to a DVD brings a new life to old memories when viewed on your TV screen.
